i hope everyone who gives money to ao3 while ignoring the donation and crowdfunding posts of regular people in need drops dead

it’s not just a matter of priorities and selective donation (and if it were yall have fucked up priorities anyway). it’s the fact that a/o3 gets THOUSANDS every year and the funds keep trickling in even when they’ve met and exceeded their goal, so where is it all coming from? especially when mutual aid is requested frequently on sites like twitter and tumblr and these posts get reblogged a lot while the funding either stagnates or grows at a snail’s pace. but ppl will gladly and eagerly throw money at a/o3 completely unprompted, which would be ridiculous even WITHOUT the personal and structural harm that the site perpetuates

ALSO, AO3 REGULARLY HOUSES AND ALLOWS DRASTICALLY INAPPROPRIATE STORIES INCLUDING R*PE, RACISM, P*D*PHILIA AND OTHER VIOLENCE ON THEIR PLATFORM.

STOP. DONATING. TO. AO3. THEY DO NOT NEED YOUR MONEY. DONATE TO ACTUAL PEOPLE IN NEED. AND IF YOU MUST DONATE TO A WEBSITE, AT LEAST MAKE IT A USEFUL ONE LIKE WIKIPEDIA.
